Fransa’da yeni bir yasal düzenleme, 15 yaş altı çocukların sosyal medya platformlarına erişimini kısıtlamayı öngörüyor. Fransa’nın alt kanadı olan Ulusal Meclis, Cumhurbaşkanı Emmanuel Macron’un desteğiyle, çocukları dijital risklerden korumayı amaçlayan bu tasarıyı, yoğun tartışmalar sonucunda 116 evet oyu ile kabul etti. Tasarı, çocukların sosyal ağlara erişimini engelleyerek onları koruma altına almayı hedefliyor.

Yaş Doğrulama ve Denetleme Sürecinin Önemi

Debates during the sessions, which started on Monday and ended on Tuesday, focused on the feasibility of the regulation. The government argued that in order for the regulation not to remain on paper, it needs to be reshaped in accordance with European Union (EU) law. This includes responsibilities like age verification and data security within social platforms, ensuring alignment with EU frameworks. The technical aspects of age verification and the system of enforcement are seen as the main thresholds for implementing the regulations.

New Measures on Mobile Phone Use in High Schools

Additionally, the National Assembly discussed stricter measures regarding mobile phone use in high schools. The approach has shifted from a complete ban to more moderate solutions, such as defining specific areas in schools where phones can be used or setting up a limited usage regime.

The social media bill, before becoming law, will move to the Senate for further discussion. The Senate’s schedule and possible amendments will be closely watched, with the target implementation date voiced as ‘September 2026’. However, the timeline remains subject to debate until the EU framework on age verification is clearly established.
